Against a backdrop of intense geopolitical challenges, wars, and tensions, the French G7 presidency had stated its intention to address global macroeconomic imbalances. Following the summit held in Évian in June, has progress been made on these issues? And did environmental and energy transition issues manage to gain traction, even as certain terms—such as “climate”—have become taboo under U.S. influence? Dependence on fossil fuels, natural disasters, and critical raw materials are all key issues that needed to be addressed, because reality doesn’t just go away. IDDRI was particularly involved, as it coordinated the T7, the official G7 group tasked with mobilizing think tanks to develop recommendations for decision-makers. Céline Kauffmann , T7 lead at IDDRI and a close observer of the entire G7 process, answers questions from Sophie Larmoyer .
